Why I do this

I didn't get into mortgages to sell mortgages.

I got into this because the right loan at the right time changes someone's trajectory. I've watched it happen: a first-time investor who didn't think they qualified, a family that finally got into the right home, a builder who turned one deal into ten. Those moments are why I pick up the phone.

The no that almost cost us this home

Ten years ago I sat across from my own bank and heard no. Steady work, a family ready to put down roots, and the answer was still no. It was a mortgage broker who found the yes: same me, same numbers, a lender whose guidelines actually fit. Every memory we've made since happened inside walls that almost didn't become ours, with a decade of appreciation building quietly underneath it. When I think about how close we came to waiting years, or renting while the market moved without us, I understand exactly what's on the table when someone calls me. It's also why, once I got into mortgages, being a broker was never a question. With 100+ lender relationships through Edge Home Finance, I'm never limited to one product shelf, and I'll tell you the truth about what fits even when it costs me the deal.

The contractor who never owned a home

My dad was self-employed my whole childhood, a contractor with real skill in his hands. I watched him help real estate investors cash big checks his entire working life: he did the remodels, they took the upside. And on paper, after every honest write-off, his income never looked like what his work was worth, so we never owned the home we lived in. Two things never left me. With the right person in his corner, there was a path to a mortgage built for how he actually earned. And with the right financing behind him, the man swinging the hammer could have been the one flipping the house. That's why self-employed borrowers and investors each get a whole page on this site.

Two years that rearranged me

Before any of this, I spent two years doing volunteer work in Latin America. I went to serve and came back served: humbled, carrying the Spanish I still use every week, and certain that whatever I built next had to give something back. You don't watch families build a life with almost nothing and come home unchanged.

Why homes, not cars

The road here ran through about 20 years in automotive finance, from top salesperson to finance manager to finance director, with 415 client reviews averaging 4.9 out of 5 along the way. That work was good to my family, and it taught me how to sit across the desk from real people and tell the truth. But a car loan ends at a trade-in. A mortgage ends at a paid-off family home, and the Federal Reserve's surveys of family finances show homeowners building many times the lifetime net worth that renters do. I'd rather spend the rest of my career on that side of the table, finding honest, creative paths to keys.

The rest of the story is Minnesota. I grew up in a home rich in love and character and short on money. My parents gave us everything that mattered, and in the tight seasons, strangers stepped up to cover some of the rest: I can still name them, and some of my best childhood presents came from people I'd never met. Finding out a stranger cares changes what you think is possible. A lot of the giving side of this business is me trying to be that stranger for someone else.

Everything we've built in this home almost didn't happen. I don't forget that when someone trusts me with theirs.

The for-purpose model

Every deal funds something real.

The business itself is built around something bigger than transactions. This model is rooted in my faith: the conviction that the work should serve people well beyond the closing table.

I learned what for-purpose means from my friend Cole Hatter. We first served together in Mexico, building Homes of Hope houses for families, and years later he built a movement called Thrive around three words that stuck with me: make money matter. There are three kinds of business. Nonprofits do beautiful work and spend half their energy chasing donations. Most for-profits earn money with no mission attached to it. A for-purpose business is the third kind: it competes, it earns, and the earning itself funds the mission. That's what Purpose Mortgage is.

So before I take a dollar, 10% of every lender commission goes directly to organizations and causes I've seen change lives firsthand. That's not a marketing line. That's the business model, built in from day one.

And it costs you nothing. Lender commissions are paid by the lender, not by you, so the giving comes out of my side of the table. Every deal you close with me funds something that matters.

Where the giving goes

Two organizations, chosen for reasons I lived.

Before any commission clears, this is where the money goes.

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge

They walk people out of addiction and back into their lives, with recovery programs across Minnesota that deal in years, not quick fixes. I've seen what addiction can do in my life and the lives of people I care about, and I've seen what recovery gives back. That's why this one comes first.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Coon Rapids

Volunteers build and deliver beds so no kid in the community sleeps on the floor. I know what it means when a stranger shows up for your family, and a bed with your name on it says somebody cares. This is where that debt gets paid forward.

Who I'm here for

The people I can't stop thinking about.

Self-employed and contractors

People like my dad: skilled, honest, and invisible to a tax-return underwrite. Your write-offs shouldn't cost you the house. And if you've spent years building wealth for investors with your own hands, there's financing for the day you decide to hold the bigger check yourself.

Real estate investors

I spent years teaching financing inside investor communities, including one I still serve today, and their hunger got into my blood: do something different, build something more. Every corner turns into the same question of where the money comes from and how to structure it. Answering it is my favorite part of this job.

The Hispanic community

Hispanic homeownership still runs behind where it should, and too many families hit language and access barriers that have nothing to do with how ready they are. I serve in Spanish so nobody makes the biggest purchase of their life in their second language. And some of the best investors I've ever seen came up through the trades: they know the subs, they know the costs, and they can run the whole job. I want them owning the remodel, not just doing the floors.

Working with me

Here's what you actually get.

100+ lender relationships

I'm not tied to one bank. I shop your scenario across thousands of loan programs to find the right fit, not the most profitable one.

Straight talk

I'll tell you exactly where you stand, what's holding you back, and what it would take to get more. No pitch. Just the truth.

Hablamos Español

I serve Spanish-speaking clients in conversational Spanish. The right loan shouldn't depend on your first language.

For-purpose giving

Every deal funds giving initiatives, at zero cost to you. Your transaction is connected to something bigger.

Now you know who you're working with.

If that resonates, reach out. No pressure, no pitch. Just a real conversation about where you are and where you're trying to go.
